A shared topic is a small invitation. Interest-based filters are coming later; for now, bring a question to any conversation.
Specific enough to start
Music, books, gaming, and travel each open many possible conversations. Start with a recognizable topic, then share the more specific part once you connect.
Do not reveal your full name, employer, school, phone number, or a social handle just to find common ground. A short question is enough.
Filters are not available yet
OpenTalk can prioritize shared interests, but Omegleweb does not offer an interest picker in this beta. Text and video stay in separate matching flows.
The available pool changes as visitors arrive, leave, or wait. If you are waiting, try again later rather than assuming something is broken.
Turn a shared label into a real exchange
If the shared topic is books, ask what kind of story they return to—not whether they have read a long list of titles. With travel, a question about a favorite local place can be more inclusive than a question about expensive trips.
You can enjoy a subject differently and still have a good conversation. Ask what they like about it before debating tastes. And if no shared topic appears, use an everyday opener; interests are a starting point, not a rule for the entire chat.
